Movie buff enjoys 111 films in a year with Cineworld Unlimited

Spencer Cosford from Milton Keynes has always been a “massive movie fan”, enjoying visits to his local Cineworld at least once a week.

But when his Milton Keynes-based employer P&MM began to offer its staff Filmology cinema incentives as a work perk, Spencer decided to take his passion to the next level and set himself a challenge using the Cineworld Unlimited Card, which, as an employee benefit, P&MM offers staff for £135.24 per year.

Spencer recalls: “After seeing 80 films in the previous year, it made me wonder whether I could see over 100 different films in 12 months!”

So, with a rough schedule in mind of about eight movies a month, a patient girlfriend and a lot of movie-loving friends, Spencer set off on his quest, not only watching films but also reviewing them for his family.

He succeeded; he actually saw 111 different films, including 11 in a month in April and September.

“Inevitably, there were some great and some terrible films among them. My top five were Inception, Kick Ass, Toy Story 3, The A Team and The Social Network; the worst were Greenberg, Jonah Hex, Skyline, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest, and Ninja Assassin.”

Spencer adds: “Seeing so many films has not put me off – I’m still going at least once a week!”

David Pearson, director of Filmology, the UK’s first dedicated movie marketing and promotions company, comments: “It’s great to hear that Spencer has gained such good value from the benefit of his Cineworld Unlimited card.”

Cineworld is rated the UK’s number one cinema chain, based on EDI box office figures (January-December 2010), and the Cineworld Unlimited Card can be used at any of the 78 Cineworld sites.

  1. Good for Spencer – and I’m with him on Toy Story 3 and Inception. The passion for the movie theatre just keeps on running, regardless of competition everywhere from TV to computer games. Every month I scan our reward redemption figures for interesting stories of unusual participant choices, and every month it’s the same thing – tickets to the movies nearly always come out top of the popularity polles, from a choice of thousands of reward options. So now we’re adding ‘LoveFilm’ subscription to our rewards catalogue. A lot cheaper for an annual subscription than the Cineworld card, though of course you do have to provide your own comfy chairs, atmosphere and popcorn!
